Venetian Schiavona Basket Hilt Broadsword
37" straight double edged spear point blade with narrow 9" long median fuller emanating from the hilt. Blade 1.5" wide at ricasso. Overall length 42.5" including the 5.5" basket hilt. Multi-branch flat basket guard with thumb loop on left side. Illegible touch marks on two of the branches. Grooved wood grip covered in leather. Flat wedge shaped pommel cap with hole for lanyard. Blade with asterisk style touch mark on each side near the end of the fuller. Probably 1st quarter of the 18th century. No scabbard present.

Condition
Good. Metal cleaned in the past and toning down, showing a medium pewter patina with scattered surface oxidation and discoloration over all surfaces, as well as some light pitting. Grip with moderate wear and loss to the leather covering. Guard slightly loose. Tip may have been repointed.
